C1 Advanced Speaking Test Breakdown:

Part 1:
C1 Speaking Part 1 consists of general questions about you, your life, and your opinions. This section lasts about 2 minutes, during which you’ll likely be asked 3 to 4 questions.

Part 2:
In Part 2, you choose two pictures from a set of three. You’ll need to describe, compare, and contrast the selected pictures while answering two related questions. You only have 1 minute, so practicing is crucial. Sample answers can be found [here].

Part 3:
Part 3 is divided into two sections. In the first section, you and the other candidate(s) will discuss topics from a given diagram (diagrams below). Interaction with the other candidates is key, so be sure not to dominate the conversation. You’ll focus on agreeing, disagreeing, sharing opinions, and asking for others’ views. This part lasts 2 minutes. In the second section, candidates have 1 minute to reach an agreement on which option is the best or most important.

Part 4:
Part 4 covers general questions related to the topic from Part 3 but in greater depth (see questions below). You’ll need to agree or disagree with the other candidate(s) and provide your own opinion. This section lasts 4 minutes. To succeed, aim to sound organized and include examples where relevant. Keep your responses more formal by discussing general ideas rather than personal experiences even if you don’t know much about the topic.
